Nutmeg

Nutmeg is a warm, sweet, and aromatic spice that is best grated fresh for maximum flavour. It enhances both sweet and savoury dishes with its rich, slightly nutty taste.

Store whole nutmeg in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Whole nutmeg retains its flavour much longer than ground nutmeg and should be grated only as needed.

• Grate the whole nutmeg using a fine grater or nutmeg grater.

• Use ⅛–¼ teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg for most recipes.

• Add towards the end of cooking or baking for the best aroma and flavour.
